Tremendous loss and grief brings us closest to the fundamental essence of being. That reality folds me back into Tom. He created deep wells of meaning through his curiosity for and attention to the essential gilded exquisitely in varied and contrasting forms of human expression. As I mourn the chasm of negative space Tom’s physical absence creates I simultaneously find myself overflowing with the joy and intrigue he created in our lives. The world recklessly carries on being invariably compelling, beautiful and nuanced in the ways that Tom relished. His ability to savor and curate an oceanic variety of music, literature and film is the reason for this site and the foundation of the playlists, reading and viewing suggestions. We continue to celebrate the brilliance of his capacity for attention, presence and tortured dance moves. – Sarah
